reality at Slimbridge in 1946, when he realised how many thousands of geese depended on the shores of the Severn Estuary.
Today with its award-winning visitor centre overlooking nationally and internationally protected wetlands, this world famous site is an important wintering area for migrating waterbirds such as Bewick's Swans and houses WWT's species conservation programme.
WWT Slimbridge is located between Bristol and Gloucester. Follow the signs from M5 (junction 13 or 14). Nearest railway station is Cam/Dursley - a short bicycle or taxi journey away. Also on Sustrans route 41.
For visitors with disabilities there is excellent access throughout the centre, including bird hides, restaurant and toilets. Wheelchairs are available. Please note that dogs are not allowed in WWT Centres except hearing and guide dogs which are allowed by prior arrangement.
