Carlos Acosta was born in 1973 and is a Cuban ballet dancer. He has danced with companies such as the English National Ballet, National Ballet of Cuba, Houston Ballet and the American Ballet Theatre. Since 1998 Acosta has been a permanent member of The Royal Ballet. In 2003 a promotion to Principle Guest Artist reduced his commitment to the Royal Ballet and gave him chance to concentrate on international guest appearances and tours. Carlos Acosta found fame in the 1990's whilst still in his teens. Esteemed dance companies in North America and Europe started to offer him lead romantic roles throughout the next century. Acosta has earned himself comparisons with Mikhail Baryshnikov and Rudolf Nureyev.
