PubRock legends Eddie and the Hotrods return to iconic London music venue for their first show of 2018.
In 1976 Eddie and the Hotrods were the band that bridged pubrock and punk rock . They had 4 top forty hits , Do Anything You Wanna Do reached Number 9 in the charts and became a anthem for a generation. Forty one years later and the band are as exciting as ever, still playing shows worldwide.
Eddie and the Hot Rods:
Eddie and the Hot Rods began life in 1976, when four teenagers from Southend on Sea got together, and playing their own style of fast energetic rock'n'roll/r'n'b, were soon a big hit on the London pub scene. Catching the eyes and ears of the music press and the major record companies, they were soon signed up by the legendary Island Records and went on to have three hit albums and three Top 40 UK singles including the Top 10 hit 'Do Anything You Wanna Do'. There have been numerous TV appearances worldwide and they have filled almost every major venue in the UK. A success in the USA too, they have toured alongside The Ramones, Tom Petty, The Police, Squeeze and Talking Heads.
The Statins:
The Statins are a hugely popular new wave/punk covers band, who are in big demand from venues. Charismatic singer and bassist Pete Taylor has been a prominent figure on the Southend music scene since the 1970s, supporting top punk bands including The Buzzcocks and The Ruts. Guitarist Steve Crancher also plays in Barrie Masters’ side project, Class of 76, and was once signed to Elvis Costello’s F-Beat record label. Drummer Dean Trower, ex Trash Monroe, is from a famous musical family in Southend (Procol Harum) and is the quiet one - until he starts pounding the drums!
