Academy of Robotics is a UK-based autonomous technology company that beat the likes of Google and Tesla to develop one of the first street legal autonomous vehicles in Europe – Kar-Go. Its founder, William Sachiti, is a serial entrepreneur having had 3 companies acquired and last year won Disrupter of the Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
As part of the Clubhouse series, William has been joined by some of the biggest names in the UK start-up and investment scene, including the brains behind BBC iPlayer Anthony Rose, TechCrunch’s editor-at-large Mike Butcher and former chair of the UK Business Angel’s Association Simon Calver.
About Academy of Robotics
Academy of Robotics specialises in creating technology to perform or simplify complex tasks. It combines the best techniques from machine learning and mechatronics to build powerful self-adapting machines and task specific artificial intelligence. In 2020 the Kar-go Delivery Bot became the first vehicle designed for autonomous delivery to be licensed to travel on the UK roads. It’s first deliveries involved semi-autonomous deliveries of medicines to care homes in a trial backed by the UK government. Throughout 2021 the business trialled on the roads in the UK and most recently the technology has been trialled by the Royal Air Force on the largest airbase in the UK.
