Getting their start way back in 1976 as a band named slightly foully as S.O.B., when you look at Saxon (the name they chose and stuck with a year later), you are looking at true kings of British Metal. Some have dubbed their generation of Metal, as the New Wave of British Metal, and if you make that distinction than for sure no band tops Saxon in their genre. Album after successful album (highlights have to include 1980's Wheels of Steel, 1981's still classic Denim and Leather and the unforgettable Power & the Glory their best seller released in 1983), and a monster live set that even had Lemmy from Motorhead give them the nod, Saxon conquered. 35 years later and the heavy metal thunder from Saxon continues. Any day now their 20th (yes 20th) album, titled Sacrifice will be released, and a new tour launched. Their beloved United Kingdom is, as always, ground zero for these knights of metal and their Saxon fanatics can hardly wait. I know I can't.
