A Shakespeare comedy in a beautiful garden in Oxford. Relaxed performance, Saturday, 15 July (matinee).
The sparks that fly from their verbal insults catch the eye of the newly bethrothed Claudio and Hero who conspire to bring these reluctant lovers together. Meanwhile, more sinister plots are afoot, with the scheming Don John intent upon ruining the merrymaking for all…Join us on a summer evening in July for Shakespeare’s classic comedy Much Ado About Nothing. Set in the late Victorian period of exploration and discovery and held in the beautiful surroundings of the History Faculty of the University of Oxford, this promises to be a visually compelling exciting performance. Featuring a fast paced and accessible script, and following on from our sold-out run of Polly Teale's Brontë, this production is an excellent introduction to theatre in general and, more specifically, to Shakespeare. We promise you a show that is full of wit, cheer and laughs - a perfect way to spend a summer evening in Oxford! We are very pleased to offer a relaxed performance on Saturday, 15 July (marine). What is a relaxed performance you ask? A relaxed performance is just that, relaxed! People with an autistic spectrum condition, with sensory and communication disorders, a learning or physical disability or dementia/Alzheimer's and their families or carers may find a relaxed perfomance more enjoyable - traditional theatre etiquette (sit still and stay quiet!) doesn't apply at a relaxed performance so audience members can make noise if they need to and are free to leave and re-join the seating area if necessary. Everyone is welcome at our relaxed performance (the more the merrier!), but it is intended specifically to cater to the needs of the patrons listed above.
