Sebastiaan Kemner (trombone) Live Music & Concerts

Weekly concerts performed by members of St. Hilda's College, students from across the University of Oxford, and professional musicians.

In 2015 he completed his Master studies with the highest distinction. Between 2012 and 2014 Sebastiaan was also part the prestigious Herbert von Karajan Akademie der Berliner Philharmoniker, a two-year internship with the famous Berlin orchestra.

Sebastiaan won prizes at different national and international competitions, among which the Prinses Christina Concours and the Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland. At the latter, he was elected Dutch Young Musician of the Year 2010 by an international jury. In 2013 Sebastiaan won the Aeolus International Competition for Wind Instruments in Düsseldorf, one of the most important competitions for his instrument. During the International Trombone Festival in New York in 2014, he won both the first prize with the Thein Brothers Quartet, as the individual Frank Smith Tenor Trombone Competition.

As a soloist, Sebastiaan regularly performs in recitals on all main stages in The Netherlands and with orchestras from both his home country and abroad. He also made many concert tours through Europe, China and the US. In the summer of 2015, Sebastiaan became Artist in Residence of the annual NJO Muziekzomer of the Dutch National Youth Orchestra.

Admission is free, and all are welcome.

Patrons and Friends of the JdP Music Circle will be attending a termly lunch with the Director of College Music and the JdP Manager before the recital. Find out more on our website.

Curated by Dr Jonathan Williams, the Director of College Music at St Hilda's, the popular Lunchtime Recital Series offers weekly concerts performed by members of College, students from across the University, and professional musicians.
