In association with the Imperial War Museum and as part of a nationwide programme of events commemorating the centenary of WW1
Flo of the Somme pays tribute to the remarkablebravery of the thousands of animals who risked
their lives, and played a crucial role, during the
‘Great War’. Beautifully illustrated, by Martin Impey, and written in rhyme, as an homage to the War Poets, this book is a gentle introduction for younger children to the First World War. The story of Flo is a great way to explain to children the sacrifices made by the soldiers and the animals. Hilary Robinson is an award-winning author of over 40 picture books (including Where the Poppies Now Grow) radio producer and broadcaster. Books by Hilary Robinson and refreshments will be available at the venue.
