Exhibition of architecturally inspired sculptural artwork by Sadia Gul Ibrahim.
The Alchemy Experiment in Glasgow is delighted to announce a solo exhibition by artist Sadia Gul Ibrahim, showcasing her captivating representation of architectural splendour
As an artist originally from Pakistan and now residing in the vibrant city of Glasgow, Sadia's exhibition encapsulates the awe-inspiring grandeur of old mosques, cathedrals, palaces and more found in the civilisations of the Middle East, Central and South Asia, North Africa, Turkey, the Iberia and more recently the UK and EuropeThese remarkable structures, with their intricate doors, windows, balconies, towers, and minarets, embody a sense of mystery and allure, inviting viewers to wander through these intricately carved portals and imagine living in the worlds that might lie beyond
Sadia's art narrates and intertwines the rich architectural tapestries of these regions with her work bridging cultures to create something unique and beautifulShe often recycles and reimagines materials that have had previous utilitarian functions, reincarnating them in a different form and context
It is Sadia's aspiration that her artwork act as a portal, inviting viewers to engage with and appreciate diverse artistic traditions and shifting realities and thus to enculturate a journey from the local to the general, from past to present to future and from the physical to the conceptual.
