Alfred East Gallery Art Galleries
The Alfred East Gallery is one of the County's two major public art galleries, housing important collections by Sir Alfred East and Thomas Cooper Gotch, some of which have recently gone on display in the new Permanent Collection Room.
Alfred East was an english painter and etcher, born in Kettering on the 15th of December 1849.
One of the most prominent among modern English landscape painters, he received his art education first at the Glasgow School of Art and then in Paris at the cole des Beaux-Arts, and under Robert-Fleury and Bouguereau.
With up to 20 different exhibitions each year there is always something new to be seen and enjoyed including ceramics, sculpture, photography, embroidery and paintings.
The Art Gallery collections are not all on display at the same time. There are far too many items to fit in the building!
If you wish to see a particular item, access to the gallery stores can be arranged by appointment. Please call the Museum and Gallery Assistant on 01536 5348381 to arrange a time. .
