Goodwood House Houses

Goodwood combines the glamour of a great English country house with the warmth of a family home. Still owned and lived in by the Earl and Countess of March and their young children, this unique Sussex house provides a stunning setting for one of the most significant private art collections in the country. Richly restored to their original Regency elegance, the State Apartments reflect both the exoticism and opulence of the period with an Egyptian State Dining Room, grand Yellow Drawing Room and a breathtaking Ballroom. The walls are lined with Canaletto's glorious views from the family's London home and with sporting scenes by George Stubbs which feature the picturesque local countryside. Colourful birds perch on the porcelain of the exquisite Svres dinner service and fine French furniture transports visitors back to 18th century Paris. A warm welcome is offered as you discover a world of beauty and comfort.

The Dukes of Richmond are the proud possessors of one of the finest and most representative of English art collections. Since the recent four year restoration by the Earl of March, son and heir to the present Duke, the walls are fully hung with both British and European paintings, and the rooms furnished with French and English furniture of the finest quality.
