Lyme Park Houses
Lyme Park is a great estate with lavishly decorated house and fine gardens. It is a Tudor house transformed into a huge Italianate palace in the 18th century.
Originally a Tudor house, Lyme was transformed by the Venetian architect Leoni into an Italianate palace. Some of the Elizabethan interiors survive and contrast dramatically with later rooms. The state rooms are adorned with Mortlake tapestries, Grinling Gibbons woodcarvings and an important collection of English clocks.
Taster tours of house at noon on open days. Guided tours of house, garden & park on some days, limited places. Enquire at information centre on arrival. House & garden tours by arrangement outside normal opening hours .
