Lakeland Sheep and Wool Centre Museums
Here is a real hands-on opportunity to meet Cumbria's most famous residents. Visitors are guaranteed a wonderfully woolly experience as we bring you face-to-face with 19 different breeds of live sheep during our indoor presentation (four times daily).
In the theatre you will discover many surprising facts about each breed - and witness the skill of the sheep shearer at work. (Shearing is seasonal and only takes place when our farm sheep are being sheared). This is especially popular and visitors are afterwards invited on stage for even closer encounter.
And the entertainment doesn't stop there, because in our 300 - seat arena, we will also show you how highly-trained sheep dogs can skillfully handle a flock. Entertaining, yes. . . But also both fascinating and educational.
We have a shop selling high quality woollen goods and gifts, some with a distinctly sheepish theme. It's an ideal place to pick up souvenirs, gifts and to stock up on the winter woollies !
