National Horseracing Museum Museums
The story of the people and horses involved in racing from its Royal origins to Lester Piggott, Frankie Dettori and other modern heroes.
Learn about the horse and the jockey in our Practical Gallery. Tack up a model horse and find out about the daily routine in a trainer's yard.
Next dress up in silks before weighing out and riding a horse simulator- as used by jockeys for winter practice. Then pose in front of the winner's blanket!
The gallery is staffed by retired trainers and jockeys who can really make the world of racing come alive.
For over 160 years, the Grand National has reigned supreme as the ultimate test of both horse and rider and has thrilled and fascinated the public. This exhibition looks at how the race has changed since it was first run in 1839 and celebrates its equine and human heroes.
