Only 7.5 miles from Oxford City Centre and within easy reach from the M40 make us easily accessible by those visiting the Oxford area. Waterperry Gardens has an atmosphere that reflects its 1000 year old history.

Start by visiting the old Saxon church with its 13th Century original glass windows. Then there are the 8 acre gardens, made famous by Beatrix Havergal's gardening school from the 1930s, which boasts one of the finest herbaceous borders in the country.

Waterperry Gardens is open all year around and you will always find something to make the visit worthwhile whatever the season.

From May to October flowers of every shape and hue create a stunning picture, set amoungst peaceful lawns and shrub borders. This process is achieved through careful planning so that each month later flowering plants grow up to hide the early performers. This traditional border backed by the mellow brick wall and climbers is complimented by island beds of herbaceous plants originally planted by Alan Bloom.

By visiting the Art in Action Gallery you will see works by some of the best artists and craftsmen in the country, many of which exhibit at our Art in Action Festival held here each July.

A comprehensive and interesting collection of tools and implements is housed in the 18th Century granary at Waterperry Gardens. This museum shows the skills required in making horticultural and agricultural tools and also the skills needed to use them, as for example to two man hedge cutter.

The Garden shop sells an extensive range of trees, shrubs, perennial, alpine and fruit, which is unmatched by many ordinary garden centres. Most of the stock is grown on site in our own nurseries and there are always experts on hand to give you help and advice.

It's worth visiting our museum which holds a superb collection of old, mainly agricultural tools used in days gone by.

Finally, rest your feet and visit our Tea shop. Hot and cold meals are freshly prepared each day and there is always a fantastic range of cakes and pastries on offer.
