Coronation Street musical in Manchester NEWS
Get ready for Corrie the musical as the long-running ITV soap takes to the stage with old and new characters alike and Paul O'Grady.
Street of Dreams, a live arena musical of Coronation Street will play at Manchester's MEN Arena next year, starring some of the soap's best-known characters.
Taking a trip down memory lane, the musical will go through Weatherfield's 50 years next March.
Returning to their Corrie roles are Julie Goodyear (Bet Lynch), Kevin Kennedy (Curly Watts) and others, alongside current cast members including William Roache (Ken Barlow).
The show will be backed by a 25-piece orchestra, with music taken from last year's album Coronation Street: Rogues, Angels, Heroes and Fools; which was released to mark its 50th anniversary.
Taking the production's helm will be the Bafta-winning director John Stephenson, while Stephen Mear will choreograph the show.
TV personality Paul O'Grady has described himself as 'a great fan of the street' and will host the show.
'Chunks of the script from 30 years ago are engraved in my memory so to relive it all alongside unforgettable characters and talent on the stage, revisiting such iconic scenes from across the years, is just brilliant.' O'Grady said.
