The internet was flooded with tributes to Mick Hucknell yesterday after false reports of a fatal jet ski accident
Mick Hucknall is the latest celebrity to be caught up in a series of hoax reports.
A report was published stating that the Simply Red frontman had struck a concrete boat slip in a marina on Parot Cay in the Turks and Calcos Islands.
Hucknall was alleged to be the only passenger on the Jet Ski at the time of the incident.
Despite the report sounding plausible, it was in fact a hoax that used exactly the same words several days previously with regards to the death of fellow musician Innocent 'Tuface' Idibia ' another hoax report.
After the hoax report broke the internet was flooded with thousands of tributes to the redhead singer.
The 51 year old singer later tweeted from his account @SimplyRedHQ, 'its officail i'm dead- wow it's lovely down here -nice and warm, gr8 parties...lots of rock n roll.' [sic] Even with being in direct proximity to God, Mick's spelling leaves a lot to be desired.
The singer later that day finally tweeted 'relieved that my Daughter is young enough to NOT be traumatized by these delightful rumours..take a good f*cking look at yourselves..'
The authors of the prank, Global Associated News have in the past published false reports that several celebrities have passed away, including Jeff Goldblum, Adam Sandler, David Guetta, Tom Hanks and Owen Wilson.
For those that took a closer look at the Hucknall death story, the bottom of the webpage made it clear that the report was a hoax. In small writing the following could be read 'THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! This is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes.'
Alive and kicking!!
