Bolton isn't the first place you think of when imagining the home towns of chart-topping bands.

Yet, this indie-rock band entered the UK Album Charts at no.7 with their debut album Thirst for Romance, putting them firmly at the top of their game. Taking their name from a reference in the Wilco song "Theologians" on the album A Ghost is Born, the band are one of only a few bands that have been invited onto Jools Holland's show without having released any material. Cherry Ghost has gone on to receive a nomination for Best New Act at the 2007 Q Awards, and won the Ivor Novello Award for "People Help the People" in 2008.
