Deacon Blue is a Scottish band formed in 1985 in Glasgow.

The band's name was taken from Steely Dan's song Deacon Blues. They released their debut album Raintown in 1987 which was widely praised as the bands finest work. The album referred to the struggles of everyday life in the inner city. The city that the album refers to is Glasgow. The album was reissued in 2006 as part of Columbia's Legacy Edition series. The band split in 1994 and reformed in 1999. Deacon Blue are still performing and have played at the Echo Arena in Liverpool in July 2011. Their official website have recently released information that vocalist Ricky Ross is busy writing brand new Deacon Blue material.
