The Avett Brothers

The Avett Brothers is a dynamic folk rock band that draws the inspiration from their music right out of their native North Carolina. With an intoxicating and utterly unique blend of bluegrass, country, punk, folk, rock n' roll and ragtime, the Avett brothers sear your soul and make you smile with their wrenching lyrics, jangled harmonies, and toe-tapping musical genius. The Avett Brothers consists of Seth and Scott Avett on guitar and bass, respectively, and is rounded out with a stand-up bassist (Bob Crawford), a cellist (Joe Kwon), and a drummer (Jacob Edwards).. In their early days, the Avett Brothers produced several albums to critical acclaim, but it wasn't until the release of "Emotionalism" in 2007 that the band slammed into mainstream music culture, with instant hits such as "Die, Die, Die", "Shame", and "The Ballad of Love and Hate". Their follow-up album of 2009, "I and Love and You", peaked at #16 on the Billboard top 200, cementing their place as a band to keep an eye on.

10 must-have books for British tourists

Each year millions of tourists step foot onto British soil to experience the culture and history of this beautiful land. BritEvents brings you our list of ten must-have books for tourists to Britain.

Britain's Top 10 Tourist Attractions

It's no surprise that most of the top 10 visitor attractions in Britain are in our capital city, London. However, with Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Alton Towers bucking the trend, there's much to be seen outside of London. Why not take a look.

Great British food festivals

The French may think that we're just a nation of 'les rosbifs', but ask any Brit what they think of our cuisine and they'll tell you that we're a world-leader in high quality food. To celebrate and bring together the diversity of cuisine in Britain, food festivals are popping up all across the country. It's enough to make those Gallic chefs choke on their snails.

Top 10 historic British museum ships

It was once said that Britain ruled the waves, and that's no surprise given the amount of time and money that was dedicated to building the world's greatest fleet of ships. Some of these ships still survive, and BritEvents takes a look at what we think are the top ten historic ships, now open to the public.
