This Will Destroy You (TWDY), formed in 2005, is an American rock band from San Marcos, Texas. They are described as "post-rock", as compared with other bands of this genre which is recognized by lengthy instrumental pieces featuring alternating dynamics and guitars with heavy effects. Their first album "Magic Bullet", released in early 2008, was voted the 5th best album of the year by Rock Sound magazine.
TWDY released "Tunnel Blanket" on both Monotreme (Europe) and Suicide Squeeze labels in early 2011. It checked in on the Billboard Heatseekers Album Chart at #25. This album had the traditional post-rock sound cotaining a slow dynamic build up leading to the "wall of noise" climax.
TWDY has wide-ranging influences from Mice Parade and Stars of the Lid to David Bowie.
There is a notable difference in style from "Magic Bullet to "Tunnel Blanket" with the latter focusing on a "darker and heavier" sound, according to guitarist Jeremy Galindo.
You may have heard TWDY's song "The Mighty Rio Grande" played during the trailer/soundtrack of the movie "Moneyball" starring Brad Pitt. They were also featured on the "Prom Night" soundtrack with their song "I Believe in Your Victory".
