Join our summer family writing workshop with poet Will Burns, exploring the countryside that inspired Roald Dahl!
Perfect for families who already like to dabble in creative hobbies together, but equally great for those who need a little encouragement to get the creative juices flowing. You’ll explore the woods that inspired stories such as Fantastic Mr Fox and Danny the Champion of the World and learn how to use the scenery around you to tease out ideas. We'll be getting outdoors and thinking about all the ways in which the landscape around us and all it contains can fire up our creativity. We'll be thinking about how and why we name the plants and animals we see, we'll be thinking about the way the environment smells, sounds, feels and looks. We'll be looking at poems and stories that might inspire us and most importantly we'll be activating our imaginations to create brand new written work.
This small group workshop lasts 2 hours to give you ample time to explore and create. There will be lots of opportunities for Will to input into your ideas to help you get the most out of your session. A member of the Museum’s Learning team will also be on hand to guide you and answer any Roald Dahl questions you might have.
