However, this all new show, albeit titled as last year’s hit 5 star show has a lot to say! ‘Music of the Night’, promises a fun evening which will take you on an inspirational musical journey, encapsulating all genres on the musical spectrum. Enjoy pop classics; amazing operatic arias interspersed with some of the most favoured and popular songs from the musicals, performed by a cast of nine vocalists & musicians, that will leave you a little starstruck.
Hosted by a Babbacombe favourite, Andy Oakley, he promises not only a sprinkling of humour but as a drummer that can also sing a bit; the punchline is not always what you expect it might be.
With over forty hits featured, it will come as no surprise that the songs will cover numerous decades with as many notable instantly recognisable artists. One you may instantly recognise after her performance on last years The Voice, is crossover singer, Keedie. She also boasts hits in the UK Charts and she reached number 2 singing with Duncan James, performing the song I Believe My Heart, written by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. As well as Keedie, international performers, most having won over the hearts of Babbacombe patrons in previous shows, will be singing songs by the Carpenters, Coldplay, Duke Ellington, Buddy Holly, Little Mix, Elvis, Stevie Wonder, Robbie Williams, Genesis, Tina Turner and John Miles. With a popular aria from Pucinni’s Turandot, and show songs from Cabaret, Annie, Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera as well as the Jungle Book, you can appreciate that the cast, which includes special guest star, Lily Laight have a musical assortment with the widest possible appeal. Lily is not only a stage star having appeared with the original cast of Matilda on London’s West End, she has appeared on TV in Doc Martin and in 2014 hit the headlines worldwide when the movie, Love Rosie went on release.
Joining Andy, Keedie and Lily, we have not one but three beautiful songstresses, Lisa Walker, Lisa T. Winter and Lindsey Collard. Having all impressed in previous productions at the venue, they will be a welcome return to this strong company, as will the very popular Paul Cobley, the Babbacombe audiences cannot get enough of him! From last season’s production Damien James who is also a gifted guitarist and the celebrated Robbie Williams tribute star, Lee Randall a classically trained pianist, whose entertainment career spans 30 years make a welcome return!
A great song should lift your heart, warm the soul and make you feel good, imagine your euphoria after enjoying an evening with so many wonderful melodic memories all seamlessly merged together, by the show’s Producer & Director, Colin Matthews, Musical Director Pete Leonard & Choreographer Sadie Oliver.
