The Art of Networking Visual Arts

the_art_of_networking

Open to all artists, this session will give you the confidence to build your professional network, raise your profile and get ahead!

By first starting with the existing connections we have, this workshop will show how most artists in any situation can grow and improve their professional network immediately. The more people in your network, the more opportunities you can access, along with support and tools for success. Networks can also increase your perceived status (by being well-connected), whilst learning career tips and tricks from other artists and peers in comparable positions.
In this microlearning workshop, we will cover:
• The Importance of Networking in the Art World.
• Learn how to have meaningful relationships with collectors, gallerists and other artists.
• Learn best practices for networking and following up effectively.
Building your network can often help you look beyond your art practice to evolve your skills, career, and relationships. We will share case studies of successful artists who have built strong relationships in the art world. Handouts and worksheets on networking best practices will be provided and the workshop will include a Q&A session.

This session will be joined by Paula Rubiano Aza, who is a seasoned Art Advisor and PhD candidate with extensive experience in modern contemporary art. With a background in Visual Arts, she has spent the last seven years working with prestigious organizations and advising clients on the best artworks to purchase to suit their needs. Paula has overseen and managed an active artist outreach pipeline, engaged with artists and related communities in the field of contemporary art, and fostered relationships with living artists as well as related networks of gallerists, dealers, and other curators in the field. She holds an MBA in Art Business Management, an MFA in Art Research and Creation, an MA in Professional Photography, and a BA in Visual Arts.

Free to premium members of the VAA, £19.99 to non-members. Join today at www.visual-artist.org
