The best thing about being a costume designer is having a crazy concept and then being able to make it a reality.
Join Costume Design and Making tutor Daniel Kinne on an exciting journey and witness how he creates a half scale costume mock up from scratch using key techniques taught on Morley costume courses.
Also included is a five minute talk on Morley's most ambitious costume project yet: Creating an installation for the Planets Festival.
About the tutor, Daniel Kinne.
A fashion graduate from Parsons School of Design in New York, Daniel honed his skills as a tailor in an apprenticeship under Chris Lagos at the Carnaby Street Tailors in London whose commissions include Saudi royalty and the James Bond movies.
With this experience, from 2000 to 2008, he worked with connoisseurs of historical re-enactment and became tailor to the official George Washington interpreter at Washington's Mount Vernon home in Virginia, USA. He has designed and manufactured many historically accurate garments for persons portraying figures such as Sir Robert Dudley and Prince Albert. He is also a learned corsetier and has produced corsets worn by many celebrities including Tyra Banks, Yoko Ono, Rosario Dawson and Jennifer Morrison.
During this time and to the present, Daniel has also been the creative director for the fashion brand, A LA DISPOSITION, which he and his partner Lynda Kinne founded. The brand has shown in both New York and London and today comprises a women's collection, a men's collection and a perfume line with plans for a store in London.
Daniel has taught at Parsons School of Design in New York and has been teaching Tailoring courses with great success at Morley College since 2013.
