The L.B.P.S. is once again delighted to be part of Piping Live.
The L.B.P.S. is once again delighted to be part of Piping Live! and taking part this year are:Fraser Fifield – To call a musician’s work ‘unique’ is a bold statement. However, if any musicians come close, then Fraser Fifield would be among them. The originality of his work, the breadth of his inspiration, scope of invention and variety of instruments he uses to create his music make him unique – and one of Scotland’s most enthralling artists. As a multi-instrumentalist Fraser performs an uncommon combination of instruments: Highland Bagpipes, Border Pipes, Low Whistles, Soprano Saxophone, Bulgarian Kaval and percussion. In addition he has an interest in music technology, leading to a variety of work composing for media and producing other artist’s recordings. He’s consistently been guesting and collaborating with a long list of bands and artists at the forefront of the Scottish music scene for more than 20 years.
Mike Katz – Battlefield Band member and hugely influential piper and musicians.
Curmudgeon – Laurie Brett on guitar and vocals, Donald Gorman playing fiddle and mandola and Andrew Macintyre on Scottish smallpipes and whistles
Harta (a norse name for a corrie in the Cuillins)
Harta is a new trio from Skye and Lochalsh who play an intriguing mix of old Scottish melodies and dance tunes alongside music drawn from the Nordic traditions. Christine Martin plays nyckelharpa, Ross Calderwood plays smallpipes, and Jack Evans plays guitar, bouzouki, and whistles.
As well as being a musician and music teacher, Christine Martin runs the music publishing house Taigh na Teud, and has produced many popular and successful books of traditional music.
Ross Calderwood is an experienced piper but also a highly regarded pipe maker based in Balmacara. He uses native Scottish woods to create his pipes, which he sells all over the world.
Jack Evans is known for his work in some of the best Scottish bands (Jock Tamson’s Bairns, The Easy Club, The Ghillies, The Cauld Blast Orchestra), and is the fretted instruments tutor at the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music, at Plockton, Wester Ross.
Join us for a great night of music at The National Piping Centre.
