Experience something different at the Belgrade this February

Toe-tapping Tunes, Hard-hitting Drama & World Class Illusion coming up this February at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre.



This February will see Coventrys Belgrade Theatre play host to a great range of one-night shows combining must-see musical entertainment with the latest in bold new writing from the pen of an emerging Coventry playwright.

World-class illusion, gripping spectacle and death-defying acrobatics combine in Champions of Magic, running on the Main Stage on Fri 27 Feb. Featuring five of the worlds finest magicians, including Young & Strange Grand Illusionists as seen on ITVs Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Fay Presto, Queen of Close-up magic & Alex Mclerr, Master Mind Reader, this stunning illusion show combines disappearances, teleportation, levitation and heart-stopping finale, all presented with lighting and pyrotechnics to rival the biggest arena productions.

Breathing new life into the ancient art of storytelling, The Forbidden Door is a scintillating combination of live music, dynamic sound and captivating narrative running in B2 on Fri 27 Feb. Acclaimed storyteller Daniel Morden is joined by virtuoso musicians Sarah Moody, Dylan Fowler and Olivier Wilson-Dickson in a show which fuses love, loss, horror and humour, transporting audiences into a world of imagination, melody and mystery.

Swinging into Coventry on Saturday 28 February, BBC Big Band bring you the authentic sounds of the cinema. Inspired by some of the greatest movie sound-tracks of all time, this incredible concert show features music and themes from films, such as, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Meet Me in St. Louis and James Bond, through to contemporary classics such as John Williams Catch Me If You Can soundtrack all performed in the BBC Big Bands own inimitable style.

Joining the band on stage is special guest vocalist, Emer McParland, performing songs made famous by the leading-ladies of film music, including Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey and Marilyn Monroe.

For fans of new writing, Bag Lady is a bold new play from the pen of Coventry playwright Maria Lane running in B2 on Sat 28 Feb. Produced by Hidden Gems Theatre Company, this hard-hitting and darkly comic one-woman play tells the story of Eve a homeless bag lady whose passionate rants and reflections are not only justifiable but essential to her survival. An exhilarating rollercoaster ride of a play which celebrates the notion of the strong and angry black woman.
