Kate's wedding dress on display

Kate Middleton's wedding gown and the couple's wedding cake is going on display at Buckingham Palace.

More than 650,000 people are expected to catch a glimpse of the most eagerly anticipated dress of the century.

The wedding dress and cake from the royal wedding earlier in the year between the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall will be on display throughout the summer at Buckingham Palace.

Both the wedding gown and the wedding cake complete with the slice made by the couple in April will be on display at the palace from tomorrow (23rd July).

The dress is the highlight of the summer's public opening at Buckingham Palace, and will be placed in the centre of the ballroom enabling the visitors to see the unprotected gown 5ft away from every angle.

The Queen will be taking an extra week at Balmoral to allow for the 600,000 visitors to see the Duchess's wedding dress. They will be paying £17.50 for an adult ticket, and the number of visitors according to the Express is expected to exceed the record set in 1994 of 420,000 people.

The Dress is set to bring in extra finance to the treasury of more than £8million from tickets and shop sales during the summer.

Kate's wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, the eight-tired wedding cake, the Queens Cartier tiara and shoes will be on display until 3rd October 2011.

Kate and the Queen are expected to view the exhibition together today in advance of the public opening tomorrow.
