Mini Burn - set the family on fire

Add adventure to your sport and bring your family with you.

No more stamping your feet on the sidelines a new sport that involves every member of the family is gaining in popularity.

International adventure racer Maria Leijerstam who last Christmas claimed a world first for cycling to the South Pole wanted to provide others with a taste of adventure. She has set up a series of mini adventure races with the aim of encouraging families to enjoy activities together.

Mini Burn is a pairs or team event involving a perfect blend of running, cycling, kayaking and orienteering. Mums, dads, uncles and aunts and even grandparents have taken part and the age range stretches from seven to over seventy. "Sport doesn't always have to be competitive it has to be great fun as well and the family category is proving the most popular," said Maria. The setting is perfect too as the route climbs up the ancient Margam Park hills dotted with red deer high above Swansea Bay - a great place for a new family adventure.
