David Walliams' best-selling children's novel 'Mr Stink' is to be adapted into a comedy drama for BBC One, it has been announced.

The book is the hilarious tale of a smelly tramp who is befriended by a young girl called Chloe. It was recently shortlisted for the Blue Peter 'Best Children's Novel of the Decade' award and is Walliam's second children's novel, published in 2009.

Walliam's was said to be 'beyond thrilled' that his book would be adapted for TV and while details on casting are yet to be announced, he is also set to play the part of the Prime Minister in the TV version and has already written the script for the hour-long film. BBC One controller Danny Cohen described its story as a 'heart-warming, nose-clenching and funny tale which will appeal to viewers of all ages'. The book has sold over 250,000 copies and looks to be a very popular choice, headed for TV success also.
