Prodigy star stages art show

Rapper and The Prodigy star Maxim has unveiled his first art exhibition in London under the alias MM, where walking into the gallery is 'like entering a cocoon'.

The INC Space in Covent Garden, London, has been made over by The Prodigy's lighting crew to create a unique atmosphere.

'One thing I always hate is when you go to a gallery and you just see a painting on a bland white wall,' Maxim told BBC 6 Music.

The exhibition is called Lepidop Terror, which is likely named due to the latin for a large order of insects including butterflies, with butterflies featuring heavily in the show.

The show features 15 paintings which are all set against a dark monochrome background with bright glimpses of colour, along with the recurrent butterfly theme.

Walking into the gallery is 'like entering a cocoon', according to 6 Music reporter, Sinead Garvan.

Maxim said the exhibition had been 'daunting', but he had received a great amount of support from his fellow Prodigy bandmates.

The exhibition runs from 15 -26 September and entry is free.
