Richard Briers has died but he had a 'Good Life'

Ever Decreasing Circles and The Good Life actor Richard Briers has died at the age of 79. His agent confirmed that Briers had died peacefully at his home in London yesterday. An adorable man who will be sadly missed by millions.

Known by millions for his enduring role as Tom in The Good Life, Richard Briers passed away yesterday at the age of 79.

The actor, who was also well known for his Shakespearean stage roles, died peacefully at his home in London.

Richard has been suffering with the serious lung condition, emphysema for a number of years, which the actor said was down to his years of smoking.

He told the Daily Mail just recently:#quote#I've got emphysema, you see, so I am buggered. I haven't even got the strength to garden anymore. Five hundred thousand cigarettes, darling - that's the trouble.#/quote#

The actor stopped smoking ten years ago, but it was too late, just five years later he was diagnosed with the serious lung disease.

He did say that he, 'didn't think it [emphysema] would go quite as badly as it has. It's a bugger, but there it is I used to love smoking'.

The actor was awarded the OBE for services to arts in 1989. He leaves behind his actress wife Anne Davies and two daughters.

RIP Richard Briers 14 January 1934 - 17 February 2013.
