The death of Lawrence Peyton in 1997 brought about the first change in the band. Abdul"Duke" Fakir is the only surviving member of the original four and he has no plans of retiring anytime soon. While much of the early years were spent in recording studios, the late 80's saw them doing more live performances and touring. The Four Tops recorded several Top Ten Hits and they have recieved many awards over the years, including a Grammy and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
