What's on at Colston Hall Bristol

Elvis Costello

Regarded by many to be one of the more influential and creative musicians of his era, Elvis Costello has consistently released his unique variety of music since the late 1970's. With an individual style that has spanned the gamut in regard to genres, Costello found his beginnings in punk rock and new wave, moving on to do what very few others have done, to create his own diverse and eclectic sound that never sounds the same, yet somehow always sounds right. While Costello's tunes are no stranger to popular music channels, his best remain to be album tracks that require deeper digging, though definitely worth the effort to uncover the gems to be found. DetailsColston Hall Bristol, Bristol, 2 Jun 2013

Reginald D Hunter

American stand-up comedian 'Reginald D Hunter' works mainly in the UK and originally began his time here studying at RADA for a career on the stage. It seems that his ability to make audiences laugh changed that career path after doing a stand-up stint as a dare. He is a regular panellist on 'Have I Got News for You' and 'Would I Lie To you?' and TV appearances also include 'Live at the Apollo'. DetailsColston Hall Bristol, Bristol, 5 Jun 2013

Joe Satriani

Joe Satriani is the living embodiment of the Rock guitar hero. Since he burst on the scene in 1986 with his self-titled debut album there hasn't been a discussion about who the world's best guitar player is where Joe hasn't been mentioned in the first breath. Over 20 years later and his reputation has grown even greater, if possible - to the tune of 15 Grammy nominations! Beyond being a god on the guitar, Joe Satriani is also the undisputed king of the Rock instrumental album. DetailsColston Hall Bristol, Bristol, 12 Jun 2013

Al Murray

Born Alastair James Hay in 1968, Al Murray was voted no.16 in Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians in 2007. He is probably best known for his 'Pub Landlord' routine which sees him take on the persona of a xenophobic yet opinionated English publican. DetailsColston Hall Bristol, Bristol, 23 Jun 2013

Jimmy Carr

Funny man Jimmy Carr has become known and loved for his deadpan delivery and observational comedy. His humour is often dark yet hugely appealing as his success on TV and the live stand-up stage keeps on growing. In 2006 he became the first big name to perform in the virtual reality world 'Second Life'. DetailsColston Hall Bristol, Bristol, 23 Aug 2013

10 must-have books for British tourists

Each year millions of tourists step foot onto British soil to experience the culture and history of this beautiful land. BritEvents brings you our list of ten must-have books for tourists to Britain.

Britain's Top 10 Tourist Attractions

It's no surprise that most of the top 10 visitor attractions in Britain are in our capital city, London. However, with Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Alton Towers bucking the trend, there's much to be seen outside of London. Why not take a look.

Great British food festivals

The French may think that we're just a nation of 'les rosbifs', but ask any Brit what they think of our cuisine and they'll tell you that we're a world-leader in high quality food. To celebrate and bring together the diversity of cuisine in Britain, food festivals are popping up all across the country. It's enough to make those Gallic chefs choke on their snails.

Top 10 historic British museum ships

It was once said that Britain ruled the waves, and that's no surprise given the amount of time and money that was dedicated to building the world's greatest fleet of ships. Some of these ships still survive, and BritEvents takes a look at what we think are the top ten historic ships, now open to the public.
