Welcome to Angus

Angus is a stunning region that offers a magnificent glimpse of the ‘classic’ Scotland of tourism brochures and television adverts. A region made up of fertile rolling farmland, red and brown fields set against low green hills, broad valleys and romantic glens, scenic coastline and in the distance the picturesque Grampian Mountains.

Worth a visit in order to explore the region’s historical sights all by themselves, Angus was home to the Picts between 600 and 800AD and there are numerous interesting Pictish sites and Pictish symbol stones that survive to this day.

Angus stretches all the way from Dundee to the borders of the highlands and includes vibrant up and coming cities, mountain peaks, white unspoiled beaches and coastline and idyllic bays. At Montrose there is a world-famous Royal Society for the Protection of Birds Natutal Wildlife Reserve (also an area of outstanding natural beauty) that brings in bird watchers from all over the world. Even Dundee itself, so long the poor cousin of Scottish cities, is enjoying something of a revival from its Blues festival to the quiet beaches of Broughton Ferry; from the birthplace of Desperate Dan and the Beano to the new wave of bars and restaurants filling the city.

Whether you want to hike the high Munro or stroll around the enchanting and alluring Lunan Bay, watch the sunset from the dramatic Boddin Point or play a round of golf at world famous Carnoustie Golf Links where champions have played since the sixteenth century with the Glens as a backdrop; Angus has it all and with fewer crowds than other areas of Scotland is the perfect destination for a touring holiday.

The heavy metal music scene has seen the entry of various bands recently and it has become really difficult for bands to sound fresh and keep the fans interested. Formed in 1998, Chimaira has come a long way from recording their first EP ‘The present Darkness’ to their latest album ‘The Age of Hell’. The band has gone through a lot of changes in their li…

Charlie SimpsonFat Sams, Dundee
Saturday, 31 March 2012

Charlie Simpson has long and varied career behind him despite being just twenty-six. He began as a teenager with pop band Busted, a highly successful act with huge sales and two Brit Awards that paved the way for acts like McFly by showing the potential to bring instruments into boy-bands. Between 2003 and the bands eventual split, Charlie grew tired of Busted and began working on a side-project closer to the music he truly loved. Free from Busted, he could concentrate on Fightstar, a heavier affair liable to shock some previous fans but one adored by the media. Currently the band are on hiatu…
