Selkirkshire is a former administrative county of Scotland that was abolished in 1975. Located in the fertile southern Scotland region Selkirkshire is now a registration county, bordering Dumfriesshire in the south, Roxburghshire in the east, Berwickshire in the north east, Midloathian in the north and Peebleshire in the west. Its name comes from the county town of Selkirk. After 1975 the area became part of the Ettrick and Lauderdale district of the Borders Region.
