A stunning Kate at Paralympics opening

The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William joined The Queen for the stunning opening ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympics last night.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined The Queen at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games last night.

The Royals met the Games volunteers and senior figures from the International Paralympic Committee at a royal reception earlier in the evening.

The Queen made her appearance in the Olympic Stadium last night to a huge applause from the sell-out audience of over 60,000 people.

Looking happy and well, The Queen wore a dress and coat by designer Angela Kelly; The Duke of Edinburgh was unable to attend after recently suffering from a bladder infection.

This was very much an understated entrance compared to The Queen's impressive parachute entrance with James Bond at the Olympic opening ceremony earlier this month.

But this didn't stop the Paralympics Opening Ceremony being another spectacular evening, starting with words from Professor Stephen Hawkins' mind being freed from a ruined body and umbrellas cleverly used as the main theme of the ceremony, this was an inspiring and truly memorable start to the Games.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both ambassadors for ParalympicGB, clearly enjoyed the spectacle, with Kate looking stunning in her cream coat that she had previously worn to Zara Phillips and English rugby player Mike Tindall's wedding.

The Duchess teamed up her outfit with a small gold clutch and of course her trademark LK Bennett nude heels.

Britain was once again treated to an amazingly colourful and beautifully choreographed ceremony, with millions of people around the world being inspired by what the ceremony offered.

The athletes showed that they are at the soul of these games and their smiles as they entered the shining new stadium showed the world that they were positive, proud and remarkable athletes.

In the words of Corrie Corfield, news reader and announcer for BBC radio 4, humbled, inspired and respect says it all.
