Wimbledon winner Andy Murray: Best day of my life

The British tennis ace Andy Murray became the first man to win Wimbledon yesterday in 77 years. Murray said that it was one of the toughest matches of his life, but was the best day of his life so far.



Andy Murray's three set victory over Djokovic is reported to have been one of the most challenging matches of the tennis stars career.

Speaking to the press after the the Wimbledon final yesterday, he said it was 'the best day of my life so far.'

He also said that it had taken over 45 minutes after his win for the shock to sink in. But he did admit that he had 'embraced' the win rather than to just enjoy it.

Andy Murray who has said that he enjoys his training sessions, also admitted that dealing with the pressure to win Wimbledon had been very hard at times.

The pressure as a British number 1 tennis ace was 'huge', he went on to say that 'We're programmed to hit tennis balls. That's the easy part' reported The Guardian.

The Wimbledon Champion appeared on This Morning today, looking happy and relaxed, but he did refuse to answer a 'tactless' question by the show's host Holly Willoughby.

Speaking to Murray today the presenter said that she was wondering what his next challenge would be and would it involve the tennis star popping the question to his long term girlfriend.

A quick reply from Wimbledon winner certainly put game set and match to Holly's questioning by answering:#quote#I only met you like ten minutes ago so I wouldn't be telling you first.#/quote#

After a series of interviews with the press since winning Wimbledon yesterday and the PM David Cameron on his side, rumour has it that Murray could be up for a knighthood.

The modest player said it would be nice to be offered a Knighthood, but wasn't sure that 'it merits it'.

Andy Murray used Twitter to show his excitement at winning the title yesterday posting on the social site @andy_murray, 'Can't believe what's just happened!!!!!!'.

Meanwhile Morrisons in Wimbledon have temporarily changed the name of their shop to Murriwins
