County Dublin is one of the thirty-two traditional counties of Ireland and one of the twenty-six traditional counties of the Republic of Ireland. It is based around Dublin, the capital of Ireland and is situated on Ireland’s east coast within the province of Leinster. In 1994 the county was dissolved and divided into the modern counties of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, South Dublin and Fingal. Despite losing its status as an administrative county it remains a county in terms of geography, postal services, census services and most importantly, in the minds of its residents.
For visitors, County Dublin is of course defined by Dublin city and most people will spend all their time there. Indeed you could stay in Dublin for weeks and still not see everything. Dublin is a city that seems to be on a permanent wave, (and a permanent party) whether the economic situation is booming (or busting!) It is a city that is confident of its past and future and there is a wealth of things to see. For history buffs there are hundreds of sites to visit, from the Aras An Uachtarain (the Irish President’s home) to the famous General Post Office (location of the 1916 uprising) and from Dublin Castle to Christ Church Cathedral or the holy ground of St Patrick’s Cathedral to what seems like a church on every corner. When you’ve tired of history, how about some culture at the National Museum or a bit of Victoriana at the Natural History Museum? From literary tours to the National Gallery to the studio of Francis Bacon Dublin has its fair share of culture. Further out and worth a visit are Phoenix Park, the National Botanic Gardens and Dublin Bay and from there Dublin County meanders into the gentle rolling hills and farmland of Southern Ireland with numerous villages and castles. Chances are though that with so much to do (and that’s without even mentioning the famous Dublin bars) you won’t make it out of Dublin itself!

The Overtones have stormed onto the scene of popular music in both the United States and the UK, and they have done so with relatively simple and incredibly catchy music. The mood of their material is incredibly light, but it is well composed and it would doing them a disservice to say that they are not talented musicians. For those that are looking for a piece of easy listening with an incredibly well balanced group, the Overtones are certainly worth consideration for the rotation. This is a group that blends in seamlessly with much of the rest of popular music today, and makes a really im…
